Shoe Crazy Wine might not have made it to store shelves if fate had not intervened in the life of owner Gwen Hurt.
Hurt loved wine. Her first foray into winemaking came in 2006, when she received a bottle-making kit as a Christmas present. “I made over 100 bottles of Chianti in my kitchen,” said the Chesterfield resident. “After seeing the process and going through it, I thought that one day I would like to own a vineyard.”
When it came time to bottle her homemade wine she couldn’t decide what name to put on the label. “My daughter Brittny said to name it after something I love, and I love shoes,” said Hurt, who also has two sons, Ronald and Daniel, who helped her develop her sales strategy. “So Shoe Crazy Wine was born that day.” Read more at www.chesterfieldobserver.com
